In Memory of Charlene Frizzera, Pager Advisory Council Member

February 26, 2024

On behalf of Walter Jin, Chief Executive Officer, Pager

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Pager Advisory Board member Charlene Frizzera. Charlene was a dear friend to me and a strong believer in Pager’s vision and mission to democratize access to care through digital clinical channels. We are eternally grateful for her contributions to our company’s growth and development, which will continue to live on and leave a permanent stamp on our future.

Charlene was an inspiration, and her impact extends far beyond Pager. She has dramatically improved healthcare in our country, having previously dedicated three decades of federal service to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the following decade as the founder of CF Health Advisors.

During her time at CMS, she had notable achievements, including implementing the Medicare Modernization Act and the Affordable Care Act, as well as establishing the Program Integrity Task Force. In those 30 years, she served as the Deputy Director for the Center of Medicaid & State Operations, Deputy Chief Operating Officer, Chief Operating Officer, and CMS Administrator. Her strong leadership in these roles earned her the Presidential Rank Award in 2000 and 2008, joined by only the top 1 percent of the Senior Executive Service in the country.

Most recently, she served as a Board member and angel investor through CF Health Advisors, leading the strategic direction of Pager and 14 other companies, including eight startups. She also left her mark on the future of public health through her leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic, developing and implementing health policies and programs, and as an adjunct professor at George Washington University Milken Institute School of Public Health.

Having known her personally, I know her impact on the lives of those close to her is even more profound. She will be greatly missed by me and our Pager staff and leadership. We extend our condolences to her family, and we recognize that this is a significant loss.
