People Power Pager: Giuseppe Diomede, Content Management Associate

In this series, we spotlight an employee to learn more about the work they do and what drives them. We spoke with Giuseppe Diomede, a Pager Content Management Associate.

Tell me about yourself. Who are you and what is your role at Pager?

I have a varied background, in that I've had my hands in a lot of different things over the course of my career that have led me to my Content Management Associate role here at Pager. My role is about managing clinical information and policies that pertain to operations and the Command Center. It’s also about making sure that all of that information is accurate and accessible for people who really need it, particularly for the people on the frontlines of the process – the nurses and the care coordinators. I work to make sure they have what they need in real time when they're helping patients.

In this role, the audience essentially is anybody in operations. The main audience for workflows, for example, may be the nurses and the care coordinators. For a lot of the other content, such as policies, content regarding performance appraisals or follow ups with escalated patients, it would be tailored to the supervisors and managers in the group. 

I work to make sure the people on the front lines – our nurses and care coordinators – have what they need in real time when they’re helping patients.

Tell me about the work you do today. What does a typical day look like?

My day-to-day work really involves responding to the needs of the end users for the content they use in their daily operations. Recently, I’ve also become more hands on in the overall strategy of content. It starts with making sure what we’re developing is making the agents’ lives easier, so that they can provide quick, quality care and support. That's essentially what it boils down to for us: making sure that the customer experience is exceptional.

What led you to start working with the marketing team in addition to your role in training? What does that partnership look like, and what are you working to achieve?

I've always been very interested in content generally, and I'm really passionate about making content that's compelling, that brings in the audience. By nature, I am a storyteller. I have an MFA from Rutgers University. I've always wanted to use that experience and skillset of mine, and put it to work here because I think there's a lot of opportunity for that.

Pager has been so supportive of that passion, and I’ve started supporting the marketing team as a result. My goal is to essentially gain more technical skill in video and audio editing, and to help tell compelling stories through content that’s relevant for our audience in a number of mediums.

I’ve worked on blogs, storyboarding videos, video brainstorms, and audio production and editing.  Those tasks really are helping me, step by step, to learn about how we tell a story at Pager and what gaps we need to fill in doing that.

What are some of the things you enjoy about working at Pager?

First and foremost, I think the people are incredible – they are open, accommodating to helping and giving you the space to grow, to try things, and focused on making sure that you are on a trajectory that you are comfortable with and that aligns your personal goals. My manager, Kaylie, has been so supportive of that. The marketing team has been as well. That's one of the things that I think is a real key selling point for anybody looking for a great place to work these days.
Another great thing about working at Pager is that the work itself is important. At the end of the day, helping people access affordable, convenient care that is quality and trustworthy is really important. Pager’s mission is certainly a motivating one.

What drives you? What are some of the things that motivate you, professionally or personally?

One of the things that motivates me is finding connections – to the work, to the people I work with, to the purpose of the work. We've all been in situations, maybe early on in our careers, where we may not have felt super connected to the work because we were trying to build something or try something. And that’s an important step, but what’s always been a driving factor  for me is, "How do I connect to the work I'm doing and to the people around me – and to the ultimate goal of making this company a really, really wonderful company?"

Have you developed any new hobbies or activities outside of work since the COVID-19 pandemic began? Do you have any tips for work-from-home life?

One of the things that I started during the pandemic, especially in the beginning when it was a really challenging, scary time, is watching a lot of films that would not have been on my radar otherwise. I felt the need to connect to life outside of my own apartment. I’ve had the opportunity to see so many wonderful films and learn a lot more about that, and it became something positive that came out of something very tragic.

In terms of working from home, the best strategy I've learned is to treat your remote work day the same as you would an in-office day – with schedule and organization. That means getting up, taking a shower, getting dressed, doing all the same things that you would have done if you were going into an office. It helps you create the right environment to work effectively and brings structure to the day.
